March wedding Favourite's

Well hello there!!
I hope your are all having a lovely week! I'm sat here bed with a horrid cup of tea! no sugar..yuck!!.....I'm on a diet and promised myself i would not try even one wedding dress on until I'd lost another stone and a half! I'm getting there!.......slowly.

So i thought i would do a monthly favourite's blog. mainly just wedding related stuff but the odd random could pop up too.

As I've said being a wedding planner i want to know and try everything wedding related. I can be out anywhere....supermarket, gym, walking down the street and if i hear the word 'wedding'.......its like saying 'Walkies' to a dog....i get all excited....and I'm up ready to find where it came from! I LOVE hearing about peoples wedding plans.
right anyways I've gone a little off track.....talking of off track.....why am i drinking tea at this time of night.....if I'm wide awake still at 2am...expect another blog.

March Favourite's!

Colour
Ok so yes there are sooooo many different colours out there to choose from and don't get me wrong I'm not saying i don't like others this is just may favourite at the moment and that colour is MINT GREEN! yep you heard me right. its one of those colours that you tell people mint green and they start looking worried but honestly this colour is stunning for a summer themed wedding or a destination wedding! sooooo yummy!

Another colour that I've been loving for the past year and i still think is really fun is....apple green and hot pink/baby pink! ha ha ha i can only imagine the horrid faces you're pulling. The colours look so summery and fun.....take a look.....

Next up is.....magazines!

Right......so......magazines....its safe to say I'm obsessed with wedding magazines. I'm not lying when i say that i buy EVERY wedding magazine available! (This can sometimes include ones that i don't really like....that i buy just in case i miss anything). if i saved all the money that i use to buy these magazines then i could probably get married a year earlier....however I've been in the business now 5 years.....hmmmm that's alot of magazines!!
so here are my top two favs.... they are 'Perfect wedding' & 'wedding ideas' both of these mags are very similar. the reason i like them is that they cram in alot of inspiration, colour ideas, hairstyles, Q&A's, high street wedding products and so much more! Both magazines are smaller than all the other wedding magazines available which is always handy as you can pop it straight into your bag. These magazines are a must for any bride to be!!

My second fav is 'Your South Wales Wedding' magazines (please note the magazine actually have more magazines for different areas not just South wales)
The reason i like this magazine is because it has real life brides sections, ideas, venues and its crammed with adverts from local companies to you! sometimes i find my self just sitting down with a cuppa and my ipad and going through all of the adverts to check out their websites, products etc.

Next up....Centrepieces

There are so many lovely centrepiece out there at the moment its difficult to know which one to choose for your big day however I'm going to choose this one as my favourite this month because i saw it at a wedding fayre and it caught my eye! I love roses and i think its a very simple elegant centrepiece.

Next up.....Bridesmaid dresses
Without a doubt....over the past month one company name has kept popping up!
They are called Dessy
http://www.dessy.com
They have a huge selection of bridesmaids dresses to suit everyone and they have a wide range of colours. Also a plus point is you can click on any dress then select a colour and it will change the picture to the colour you have clicked on. So you get to see what you colour scheme would look like on the dress!
Here are some of the dresses that are my favs.

Next is....Wedding dress designer

ok so down to the nitty gritty!

Sottero & Midgley!!!
Oh my gosh their dresses make me melt!! they are sooooo stunning! I'm convinced my wedding dress is going to be from them! I'm not going to say another word just check them out.

Next up!....Cool extras to make your guests go WOW

When i first saw this idea i wasn't sure....now....i love it! put a basket of these out so that any of the ladies who have sore feet can just swap their heels for a pair of these and taaa daaa their are up dancing for the rest of the night!
lots of people have negative views on this idea due to people wearing tights or the common one 'ive spent so much money on my shoes why would i want to be seen in a £1 pair of flip flops!'
well I'm all for the flip flop idea.......you just know the divas with expensive shoes that look amazing but bloody hurt are gonna be wishing deep down they had a pair of these bad boys.

Our Lovely fruit palm tree!!
it towers over peoples heads and is totally covered in fruits! trust me, I've been doing this palm tree for 5 years and it still creates the wow factor!!

And last but not least its Apps!!

I tend to try out alot of wedding apps and here are my favs...

Pintrest! I love it! there are different categories that you can look at but if you click on weddings you will see some amazing ideas and inspiration for your big day! go download it!! (available on both ipad and iphone)

My second fav is an app called 'picture my wedding' if your anything like me then you will see lots of pictures of nice things and ideas for your big day on the Internet and save the pictures. Well this an app that allows you to put all of your pictures in one place under categories. Trust me this is one of my favourite apps that i couldn't be without!

Brides Q&A's

Right.....so as a bride-to-be I'm sure you have questions that you would like to know the answer to. As a wedding Planner I get asked sooo many questions on a regular basis. I've out together some of the most popular questions and answers. Have a look! I bet there is at least one that you have wanted to know the answer to.

Q, Do I have to have bridesmaids and best man on the top table.
Nope! Think about it this day and age chances are your bridesmaids are going to have boyfriends,Fiances or husbands I think everyone would feel a lot more at ease being sat next to their partner. Same obviously goes for the be
In terms of younger bridesmaids they are going to want to sit next to their parents....unless of course their parents are you.

Q, Do I have to have Favours?
Certainly not!!....giving a favour to your guests is a tradition but a lot of traditions are no longer followed. Think about it! Your paying for their meal, so it's not as though they can grizzle!
If you do choose to do favours and you don't want them to costly try cutting out the box/packaging this can somethimes be the most expensive part of the whole favour. Her are some fairly inexpensive ideas.

  • Welsh cakes - someone in your family is bound to be a dab hand on the old welsh cakes. (for anyone who's reading this and isn't welsh....they are very tasty!)
  • Scratch cards - these are only £1 each and can be placed by the placename card or you can purchase small envelopes to put them in and then put the scratch cards inside and write the guests name on the front so they double up as both a favour and a placename card.
  • Charity pin badges - these again are only £1 and come on a card telling your guests that £1 has been donated to that particular charity.
  • THIS BLOG IS TAKING 100 TIMES LONGER THAN PLANNED AS IM JUGGLING THIS WITH PLAYING WITH MY 18 MONTH YEAR OLD SON. HEY BUT WHO SAID WOMEN CAN'T PLAY FARM, COLOUR AND BLOG WHILE SINGING OLD MCDONALD :-)  ANYWAYS....
  • Lotto tickets - same applies to this as with the scratch cards. "What if someone wins!!!!!"  I hear you shriek. I'm sure they would share it with you!!! If you don't think they would give you a penny....should they really be at your big day?!
I hope some of these have been helpfull. Anyways back onto the Q&A's

Q, Do I have to have a sit down meal.
Nope you can just get married and go Straight into the evening reception if you would rather this also cuts costs because you are not paying for a sit down meal.

Q, Fresh flowers can be expencive! Are their any other alternatives?
Yes of course! Crystal bouquets are becoming ever so popular! Or even brooch bouquets! However these can be expensive too!. There is however another line to go down artificial! Yep that's what I said! And before you start shaking your head when I say artificial I'm talking quality artificial....not your pound shop dusty stuff I'm talking foam flowers! I offer these to my brides and 80% of my brides walk away with flowers for their whole wedding party including buttonholes for under £100 THAT'S A BARGIN!!! I will post some pics below so that you can see how realistic looking they actually are.

Q,I'm considering ordering my dress or/and bridesmaid dresses from china. What are your thoughts.
This can be a very tricky one. It's very tempting due to the low prices so here is my advice....
  • Do your research on the company. Check their feedback, reviews etc.
  • Custom sizes - try to get the measurements done by a seamstress
  • If you need to buy more than one dress for example...bridesmaid dresses make sure you buy them together at the same time because you don't want to order one and then when it comes to the other one you may end up with a different shade due to them using a different real of material.
  • Check out the import tax - this can be a stinger! I've had brides waiting at the door because a delivery driver has turned up with not only the lovely dresses but an import tax bill of £50 upwards! Trust me I did this when ordering my first batch of chair covers when I started out in business just to be stung with a £300 bill!!!.
Well I hope some of this has been helpful...if you have any questions your would like to know the answer to just let me know as I will being doing a Q&A again soon. Thank you for reading! X
